Alumni Webinar: COVID Implications on Mental Health and Cardiovascular Disease
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented substantial health challenges both in its direct health complications and the delivery of standard care for Australians chronic health issues. The widespread application of physical isolation initiatives across Australia -and particularly Victoria in the context of its second wave- raises the potential for significant mental health consequences and psychosocial impacts. This includes the possibility of increased incidence of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, domestic violence, relationship discord and economic hardship.

In this webinar, Associate Professor Adrienne O’Neil will summarise some of the potential mental health and psychosocial challenges that may arise in the setting of the COVID-19 pandemic and consider their potential effect on cardiovascular disease and its management.
